Hi, my name is James McDonagh and I am going to be entering my Junior year at Bridgewater in the fall. I am currently majoring in Physical Education with a minor in Health. This is my first year entering the major as I was enrolled as a secondary education and history major before deciding to make the change. The reason I made the change is because I want to impact kids lives in a way where they will use my lessons in everyday life. I felt that in History they will walk out of my classroom after a test and forget everything I ever taught them, but in Phys Ed and Health they will use the information each and every day.

While enrolled at Bridgewater State University I am also a member of the Men’s Lacrosse Team, so health is something that is very important to me clearly. I am the type of person that has lacrosse practice several times a week, and enjoys going to the gym on the days that I don’t have practice so that I can stay in shape. I believe that I am in good physical shape, but the thing that I am hoping to work on this summer and moving forward after this course is eating healthy. I am the type of person that will go home after a hard lacrosse practice or game and not watch what I eat. I know that if I continue to do this, it will catch up to me when I am no longer playing lacrosse and don’t have a way to easily burn off the calories. I am taking this course hoping that by the end I am choosing the more healthy option when I do decide to have a snack, and that I do have the right calories per day.
